7 out of 10: If Gene and Paul had produced the project, which
would have heightened the sound and video quality, maybe do an
interview, "Tale of the Fox" would be more interesting
to watch. I'm glad I own it, but it is sad that his fellow KISS-mates,
Bruce excluded, didn't come down off their secluded piles of money
to contribute.

I watched my cousin's copy of Tale of The Fox, & I must say it
was totally remarkable! Eric was one of the most down to earth
people that God put on this earth.I'm glad his parents put out
this video in memory of him,so people like myself that really
didn't know much about him, could really know what a wonderful
human being he truly was!His practical jokes were priceless,he
could have been a comedian.I'm glad that he truly enjoyed his
fans,& took the time to talk to them. The only thing that bugs
me,is that Kiss never made a tribute lp in his honor.God rest
your soul Eric Carr, you are truly missed!I would have loved to
have met him!

I really enjoyed the "Tale of the Fox" video. It has
really captured Eric's life as like it has been frozened in time
& space for us to always go back and remember all the things Eric
did for the band Kiss which was his life. Eric's Family & friends
have really showed us in this video that Eric can still live on
in our minds,in our vocies, in our Kiss albums & in our hearts.
Eric's life has been one of great interest since his passing in
1991 & we've always wanted to know what it was like for Eric aka
Paul Caravello growing up and becoming a great musician, singer
& songwriter that later helped Kiss gain their lost magic back
by replacing Peter Criss in 1980 & fought his way through album
after album, tour after tour to please the most important people
in his life...his fans! And he really did love his fans & seeing
all the images of Eric w/ his fans showed me that he loved his
fans & they loved him. Even though no one else or place ever decided
to pay tribute to this great man, "Tale of the Fox"
makes it so better than anyone ever could. Eric's parents,Carrie
Stevens,Bruce & Bob Kulick, Fred Coury, Slaughter and many other
of Eric's friends have really mae it all come true that Eric still
lives on even after 9 years after his passing he still walks, talks, sings
& plays for us FOREVER and as Dr.McCoy said to Capt.Kirk in Star
Trek 2, "He's not really dead as long as we remember him."
really shows us that Eric lives on & on again everytime "Tale
of the Fox" is played.

First off, I just want to say that Eric Carr was the best drummer
that Kiss had. Secondly, the world lost a wonderful human being
when it lost Eric. This video was a beautiful commemorative to
the man and his music. It showed the "normal" side of
Eric, not the rock star. He obviously cared for his fans and it
shows. I loved the interviews with Eric's parents, girlfriend,
and with close friend, Bruce Kulick. Bruce is carrying with The
Rockheads, and that alone is a tribute to Eric and his wonderful
memory. The world is a lonely place without this man in it. If
you loved Eric and the music that he made, you MUST get this video.
If for nothing else, to recall with his family and friends what
a great and caring individual Paul "Eric Carr" Caravello
was.

Okay, I know I must be the last Eric Carr fan in the civilized
world to view this video, but I just wanted to make a few brief
comments after my viewing of it. First, you must know that I am
a (relatively) new KISS fan, having been brought into this crazy
KISS universe by my then boyfriend (now husband) about 7 yrs.
ago. While getting to know the band, I found myself consistently
drawn to the images of Eric as not only a great drummer and valuable
addition to the band, but also as a truly wonderful, personable
human being. I have become not only a member of the 'KISS ARMY',
but perhaps even more a keeper of the flame that was Eric Carr.
So, with that in mind, I was truly excited about the video, "Tale
of the Fox." I perhaps put off watching it in fear that some
of my feelings about Eric would prove to be unfounded. This couldn't
be further from the truth!! This insightful film only reinforced
what I felt I already knew - that Eric was truly a monumental
human being. It is so refreshing to know that one can be a part
of a huge phenomenon such as KISS and not lose focus on the important
things in life. Eric remained humble and grateful for his success
throughout his all too brief career. Seeing the interviews with
his parents and long-time girlfriend, as well as those with the
Kulick brothers, Mr. Aucoin, and other musicians really brought
Eric to life for me in a way that meant the world to me. I am
so thankful for this production, because I now feel that I "know"
Eric, something that was, unfortuneately, not possible for me
as we had already lost this great man before I had ever heard
much more than the KISS name. I did not feel that the lack of
a KISS score to this video detracted from it - I can hear Eric
in KISS anytime I desire to do so. I enjoyed the rare audio footage
of some of his non-KISS related projects. I do, however, feel
that Gene and Paul should have "come down from the mountain"
to contribute to this project - yet another example of the way
these two are becoming less accessible to their fans. That aside,
however, I truly enjoyed this video, and feel that it is a must
- own for any one who calls them selves a KISS fan. Eric - you
are truly missed. God bless you!
From: Chuck Oney
I liked the video alot, but was disappointed that there really
was no live footage with the band. The video was in depth and
did have some cool personal footage, but I suspect contractual
obligations with the band were not met. It seem to me almost everytime
the band was mention, all we got was a still photo. Interviews
with actual guys in the band would have been cool. Overall, I
give it a B-
From: Shawn
Ok..I have to start with a huge thank you to the people who made
this video possible.I am without a doubt the biggest Eric Carr
fan ever. He is the total reason I am a drummer and Influenced
my life for years. The video is fantastic however,I do have a
couple complaints. Not many but a few. First, The tape has too
many interviews. It would have been alot better if the video was
an eric carr documentary on eric carr showing live clips, DRUM
SOLOS, footage of him in KISS. I don't know the reasons why there
wasn't much of this but I have a feeling it was becuase the makers
would have had to pay for use of the footage. IF that is the case
then Gene and Paul make me more sick then they did before. I love
KISS. I was a KISS fan since birth but when Eric sadly passed
on my love for KISS did also. Eric carr is the ONLY reason KISS
did not die in the early 80's. They started to suck big time and
Eric came in and revived them, made KISS something incredible,
better than they ever were, and without him KISS is just a novelty,
not a band. THey are just a couple dolls you see in the walmart
flyer for $5.99, a joke. Eric Carr is and always will be the spirit
of rock and roll and will live on forever through his fans, through
me and through every person on this great earth who believes is
rock and roll. I thank God above that I was blessed to have such
a amazing hero to grow up idolizing. Eric Carr will live in our
hearts and be with us in spirit forever. So Thank you to the makers
of the documentary. You have no idea of my apprechiation and your
efforts in keeping my hero's memory alive will always mean alot
to me. God gave rock and roll to Eric Carr and Eric Carr gave
rock and roll to you. RIP my friend. Your memory will always live
on and never be forgotten.
From: Steve Stierwalt,
Jr. / KISS Freaks
What a fantastic tribute to Eric Carr. If you are a fan of Eric
Carr, you have to have this video. This video really covers Eric
from the time of birth, until his very unfortunate passing. The
video is full of highlights that any fan of Eric or KISS would
enjoy. The more interesting content of the video are the interviews
of the people in Eric's life. Most notable of the interviews are
with his parents, Bruce Kulick, Carrie Stevens & Bill Aucoin.
Albert & Connie Caravello (Eric's Parents), discuss Eric's past
of how he came into being a musician and his rise to being a member
of KISS. Bruce Kulick talks about the creativity of Eric and his
relationship with Eric. Bruce gives a lot of insight on Eric's
talent and personality with the fans. Carrie Stevens discusses
how she became involved with Eric and their relationship. One
thing you really notice when Carrie speaks, is that you can tell
she has experienced a great loss in Eric. To hear her Carrie discuss
Eric really gives you insight into his personality and her feelings
for him, which seem to run very deep. Bill Aucoin (Former KISS
Manager), gives a lot of insight from the band side of things.
Bill has a lot of insight on Eric's involvement with KISS. Some
of the other people interviewed for the video are Bob Kulick,
Adam Mitchell, Fred Coury, Mark Slaughter, Dana Strum, Blas Elias,
John Walsh & Robert Conte. All of the interviews give the feeling
of how much everyone that knew Eric became a part of his life.
You also get a feel for how talented Eric was in many different
areas. The video footage of Eric speaking to whomever is running
the camera are just fantastic. I only wish there was more of that
type of footage on the tape. Several scenes are of Eric explaining
the environment around him. This footage is probably the best
part of the tape for myself. A small clip of rare interview footage
of the famous club fire he survived is also included. Along with
the video footage we get tons of rare photos and audio tracks.
The photos included everything from childhood, former bands & his
life in KISS. The soundtrack includes unreleased demos & former
bands material. This tape is put together very well and is very
professional. The only thing that is not included that would have
made the tape even better, is an interview with Ace Frehley on
his relationship with Eric. Of course, interviews with Gene and
Paul would have been good also. But I have often heard Ace say
how he misses Eric and if would have been great to hear him elaborate
on their relationship. If you think you know everything about
Eric Carr there is to know, you will still come away with something
from Tale of the Fox. I have long said to Loretta Caravello (Eric's
sister), that one of my biggest regrets is that I never got the
chance to meet Eric Carr. After viewing the tape, I know anyone
that did not get the chance to meet Eric, really did miss out
on meeting a very special person.
From: Wade
I want to start off by saying how big of an Eric Carr fan I am.
I first saw Eric when I was 10 on the Unmasked tour in Frankfurt
Germany. I was into him from the get go. Needless to say his death
had a huge impact on me. I was excited to get my copy of the tape.
I thought it was very well done over all. It was nice to hear
Eric's parents take on the whole thing. Overall the tape was excellent.
Here are my gripes about it. Obviously the makers of this tape
were limited when it came to use of Kiss footage. Im sure the
use of allot of vintage Kiss footage would of cost them a fortune.
Here comes another Gene & Paul complaint..sorry I love them too
but they drive me crazy sometimes! My feelings are Gene & Paul
could of came off some really good vintage Eric footage. Those
two really need to recognize the obvious interest with Erics fans
in his life story. And I know for a fact that the fans have felt
that they havent done enough regarding Eric & his legacy. But
that aside, I felt that Tale Of The Fox was an excellent effort.
One last gripe..Slaughter. This is just personal so all you Slaughter
fans dont get your nuts in a bunch. I would of much rather heard
more with Aucoin or Mitchell. I felt like I was watching a Slaughter
tape at times. Save them for the Tale of the Egyptian Warrior
tape. I give the tape 3.5 stars out of 5.
From: John Salzone
Well what can I say moving, awesome, compelling, insightful, are
a few words that come to mind. I cant really comment on Eric Carr
I unfortunately wasnt one of the lucky people who had a chance
to meet the legend they called the fox. The video was so brilliantly
put together its a credit to the producers. Its a birdseye view
of the legacy that Eric has left behind. I loved the mix of old
and new clips. His first Drum Solo was a great touch and even
back then you could hear the backbone of what was to be one of
the most explosive and Powerful drummers of our modern times.
The people that were interviewed really gave us a insightful talk
about the personal Eric, the Eric that we never got to see ourselves.
Im sure all of us had a ideal of the way Eric was and the video
reinforced; mine as Eric being a legend amongst men. Every one
of Erics closest friends and relatives had a adventure and whimsical
story to share and all were very enjoyable. Its pretty much showed
the drive and determination that was Eric Carr. I loved all the
video footage old and new. But the most touching of all footage
was the hospital home video. It showed how unbelievably strong
and resliient Eric really was. It bought a tear to my eye and
Im sure many others too. The video date said April 1991 a mere
7 months later the world was too lose one of Its most Brilliant
musicians and a gentlemen amongst men. The video I thought was
a fitting tribute to a man that deserved all the praise in the
world. ERIC THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES AND WHEREVER YOU ARE THE KISS
ARMY SALUTES YOU.
From: Becky Ludington
I think it was a great video, well worth the wait for those who
pre-ordered. I found it to be very interesting especially the
parts about his pre-KISS bands like Salt and Pepper. All of the
pictures were great! The stories about some of the jokes and incidents
on tour were good. Over all I would say that the video is very
good.
From: Edward Wille
Very nice, I really enjoyed it. Everyone appeared very honest.
It was lots of fun to hear all the stories from all the different
people. One thing that would have been cool (but virtually impossible
for obvious reasons) is to have heard from those that dealt w/Eric
musically -- Gene, Paul, Vinnie, Ace, and Mark! Pretty cool idea,
huh? I'm aware that it'll never happen though. Anyway, this video
is highly recommended. I'd even like to see a volume two with
rare live footage if Gene could put his greed aside for one second
and think of Eric's fans!
From: Jeff Evans
I received my Eric Carr: "Tale of the Fox" video today.
I watched it tonight, and I must tell you as a long time KISS
and Eric Carr fan I was truly impressed. The original four members
of KISS initiated "The Greatest Band in the World",
but Eric Carr evolved KISS to the next level. I loved the video,
and recommend other Eric Carr fans to invest in a piece of Eric
Carr history. Eric will live in my memory always!!
From: Mr Knish
First I want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart to the
family. They know me very well just by my nickname,Eric gave me
that name because I served him one of his favorite combinations
of fast food a Knish & Marios Italian Lemon Ice. I lived right
up the block from Eric and his beautiful family. I just have to
say when I saw that video I was sad in one way but had closure
in another way. A key point that Fred Coury and other guests such
as Slaughter is how everyone that loved Eric was influenced by
him in one way or another. I developed a nice friendship with
eric,I didn't invade his privacy when he was home. And I never
told people where the family lived. There are many stories I can
talk about but thats not what this e-mail is about. My review
of this video is a very heart warming feeling towards a great
person. My son that is three years old wants to watch the video
all the time. He says daddy with the drums, and I say that's not
daddy. The reason for that is I play drums. And he has seen my
old pictures when I had long hair and I don't want to sound conceided, but
it goes back to the video when they say people were influenced
by Eric. I was a overweight kid and Eric knew how I transformed
myself. We talked about that alot at Lamours in Queens several
times. I'm sorry with the rambling on but Eric was a big part
of my teenage years. He still lives in my heart my son that is
a three year old is attracted to eric. I won't say he was like
a teddy bear; He still is and back to what everyone is saying
about Gene & Paul forget it. It might be legal reasons but you
know what, Ace said a statement. Lets not be like the media and
create contovesey. What matters is the family gave us some closure
on a great legend.
From: Corey Wols
A very in depth review of Eric Carr's fantastic life. Covers from
the very beginning of Eric's life to his final days in his struggle
against cancer. Alot of focus is put on just how "real"
a person he was and that the life of the rock star didn't really
affect his personality. A wonderful documentary of his life, and
the drum solo at the end is fantasic!
From: Steve Ponchaud
I finally got to view 'Tale of the Fox' last night and I have
to say I was floored. Though obviously not done with the budget
of some videos, it didn't need it. Just finally hearing Eric's
story was great. I don't know if Paul, Gene, or Ace were contacted
to do interviews for this thing or if they were even considered,
but I'm kind of glad they weren't included. I liked finally hearing
from his family and close friends and I feel I know Eric a little
better after watching the 'Tale of the Fox'. Another question
I have is, why no KISS music used in the background? Did the makers
not get permission to use it? Did KISS want a piece of it if they
used it? If so, then that's really low. It would have been a nice
touch to hear some "Little Caesar" or live "Black
Diamond" or "Young and Wasted". At any rate, a
big thanks for all who took part in or had a hand in the making
and conception of this idea. I have a much better perception of
Eric and wonder more than ever if the reunion would have taken
place if Eric had lived. I recommend this video to anyone who
even has a passing interest in rock & roll, drumming or just learning
a little more about a great person who we lost much too soon.
From: Jimmy
"Tale Of The Fox" is a great retrospective of the life
of Eric Carr. The never before seen footage of Eric backstage,
at his parents home & in his hospital room, plus the stories from
his family & friends, make for some powerful viewing. The way
he treated KISS fans is why I respect him more the any other current
or former member of the band. He truely was the nicest guy in
rock & roll. The only thing I was unhappy with, was Gene & Paul's
refusal to be a part of the project. They should follow Eric's
example when it come to fan relations. Anyway, if you dont have
"Tale Of The Fox" in your KISS video collection, then
your collection's not complete!
From: Steve Eads
I'm glad that a video biography finally came out on Eric Carr.
Over all, it was well done, and a must have for any KISS fan.
I really enjoyed the home movie footage that is included in the
video. My only complaint is that there are no comments from Paul
or Gene, and it would have been nice to see more drum solo footage
of Eric, live onstage during KISS performances. But still, fans
of Eric Carr, like myself, will be pleased with this video. I
could not help feeling sad when it was over.
From: Carol Hendrix
WOW! What a video! This "Tale Of The Fox" video gives
a great view of Eric Carr's life and career. From his early childhood,
the start of his music-career in 1967, his KISS days and from
the hospital. There's footage of his parents, girlfriend and firends
of the music business, like Slaughter & Cinderella. Strange enough,
there are no words from Gene & Paul or KISS footage. I think that
has something to do with copyrights. I still find it a shame that
KISS didn't gave a tribute concert for Eric when he passed away
in '91. There a lot of home-video's to see and gives you a great
view of Eric's life. He was a heartwarming, great guy with a lot
of musical & vocal talent. He could do a lot more than he (was
allowed) showed us during his KISS years. Finally a tape with
a indepth look to KISS' greatest drummer. One complaint; 80 minutes
is way to short. I hope there'll be a "Tale Of The Fox 2".
Everyone should also hear Eric Carr's cd, "Rockology!"
From: Monica
I received my copies of the video on Monday and spent the rest
of the day watching this wonderful tribute to Eric. This project
was very well done and it was wonderful to see all the home movies,
childhood pictures, and hear all the wonderful things Eric's contempories
had to say about him. If you haven't ordered your copy yet, do
so quickly. You definitely won't be sorry.
From: Ken
I thought that the video was excellent!! I was surprised by how
old some of the footage was. I think it could have had more footage
of his drum solos. I wonder why Gene, Paul, or Ace didn't appear
in the video with their memories. All in all, a great video!!
He was a good-hearted, nice person. He wasn't the cocky, superficial
rock star that Gene and Paul seem to be. He REALLY cared about
the fans!! And the Rockology CD kicks ass!! "Eyes Of Love"
is a great opening song!! Although I like Peter(Criss), I truly
think that Eric Carr was and will always be the best drummer KISS
will ever have!! Period!
From: Terri Bey
I throroughly enjoyed this tape, "Tale of the Fox".
I think is is a MUST HAVE for any die hard KISS FAN. From his
admiration for Ringo Starr to the Cellermen, to his joining KISS
to learning about his talent for animation, the tape takes you
through a facinating journey through the life of a pretty cool
guy. His wonderful personality really shines in this video, as
well as his talent. I was really blown away on how talented this
guy was. I really enjoyed the interviews with his parents, Connie,
and Albert, who I have had the pleasure of meeting. I also enjoyed
the interviews with Bruce and Bob Kulick, Fred Coury, and the
guys in Slaughter, and Bill Aucoin. What was REALLY COOL, was
that there were a few words spoken by Ace Frehley. I thought that
a few words by Gene and Paul could have been put in. I also found
the red lettering hard to read. All in all, I wish to congratulate
Jack Sawyers, and everyone who contributed pix, film, interviews
, etc for putting together a fantastic video in memory of such
a wonderful person, and drummer.
From: Eric Knight
I LOVED IT! I just thought the entire video was great!! The fact
that that all those musicians interviewed for this video in Eric's
memory was incredibly cool, and I know that I sincerely appreciated
it, being a huge, longstanding fan of Eric's. I was dissapointed
that Gene, Paul, and Ace didn't speak on it. I think they all
had a certain responsibility to so, being that Eric was their
bandmate for 11 and 1/2 years, and they blew it! God bless Bruce
and Bob Kulick for picking up the ball that Gene and Paul, at
least, dropped. I look forward to for Eric Carr merchandise in
the near future. And once again I applaud all those who were involved
in the making of this great video on a job very well done!! ***God
Bless Eric Carr***
From: Gabor
ERIC CARR 'Tale of the Fox' (THOUGHTSCAPE SOUNDS) This is probably
the first video I reviewed in my life, but as they say there is
always a first time for everything and so I am reviewing this
video of the late ERIC CARR. Eric was the drummer of KISS in the
1980s who sadly passed away in 1991. But when you watch the video,
you can clearly see that Eric was more than just the drummer of
KISS. Eric also played guitar, bass, piano and had a very good
voice. Besides, he was a really funny and friendly guy who always
had time for everyone and everything. The video is actually a
biography of Eric's life and career. I guess you can say that
music was all he lived for. It's a shame he never could do more
for KISS, because his capabilities could have bring KISS to even
higher places than the band had achieved in the 80s. Happily,
Eric was always busy writing material and recording stuff, so
there will probably be a release of some of that unreleased material
of Eric. The video shows us basically everyone and everything
that had something in common with Eric. The video shows some of
Eric's first steps into the music business back in 1967. Hugely
influenced by THE BEATLES he started playing in lookalike (and
soundalike) bands. This resulted in bands like CREATION with whom
he played many concerts. One of those concerts was the tragic
gig at a disco in 1974, where a big fire destroyed the disco and
24 people were killed. Eric and his band escaped from this tragic
incident, but in the years to follow Eric was clearly influenced
by this tragedy. Maybe this is the reason why Eric has always
been a positive man. He always had time for his fans and for the
people around him. The video features the most important people
in Eric's life. His friend, family and his girlfriend all tell
their stories concerning Eric. Basically the video is a biography
of Eric and after watching the 80 minutes on the videotape you
practically saw what kind of person Eric was. Musicians like BRUCE
KULICK, BOB KULICK, the SLAUGHTER guys, his parents and his girlfriend
all say the same things about Eric. A friendly positive man that
never let anyone down and always helped everyone. And after seeing
the video it is also clear that Eric was not only a drummer of
a famous rockband, but was able to do everything on his own. We
never saw any of those things in his KISS period and that is a
big shame, because Eric had a wonderful voice. In fact, he could
sing better than Paul or Gene. But they never gave Eric the chance
to sing more for KISS other than "Beth" or "Boomerang.".
Happily, Eric recorded a lot and at the end of this wonderful
video there is a short announcement of a CD of ERIC CARR which
will be available very soon. This CD is titled 'Rockology' and
features unreleased material of Eric. And like I said he wasn't
just the drummer of KISS, so you don't have to expect a drum CD.
No way! I heard one song of the CD and I can guarantee you that
this is a side of Eric I never heard! The song I heard was called
"Sombodies Waiting" and boy was I stunned when I first
heard it on my VCR. A killer semi AOR ballad with huge harmonyvocals
(like BOSTON). If the rest of the material is also like this,
then it could become one of the best releases of 1999! This song
is much better than the last couple of releases on the big European
AOR labels. I guess we'll just have to wait and see when the CD
is indeed released. Back to the video, I noticed something strange.
Despite Bruce Kulick, the main members of KISS (Paul Stanley and
Gene Simmons) are not present at all on this video. Pretty weird,
because after all without them there would have been no KISS and
Eric Carr maybe would never have become so famous. Anyway, I really
like the video and maybe the only complaint is that there is not
so much music on the video. This video is a must for every KISS
fan, but also is interesting to watch if you're not a KISS fan.
Besides, there is a surprise for the AOR fans with this song "Sombodies
Waiting" at the end of the video which is a track that will
be on that 'Rockology' CD release of ERIC CARR. Hopefully I am
able to do a review of that disc when it's out. For now, you can
get a copy of the video through THOUGHTSCAPE SOUNDS at their website

From: Alan K. Stout
I watched the new "Tale Of The Fox" video last night,
and thought if was a fairly well done documentary. Clearly, Eric
Carr was a terrific human being - possibly the nicest of the nine
men who have stood on stage under the mighty KISS logo. There
are some vintage pictures of Eric's early bands, and even a few
audio recordings. One song, a sad Beatles-type number with Eric
on vocals, is actually a very nice tune. Bruce Kulick - who continues
to display extreme class in his post-KISS years - offers some
of the best reflections of Eric. There's also nice input from
other insiders, including songwriting partners, drum techs, members
of Slaughter and Cinderella and his girlfriend. His parents also
offer some of the most heartfelt stories, and you can see the
pride in their eyes - and the sadness - when they talk about Eric.
Eric's father always refers to him as ``my son'' throughout the
tape, perhaps indicating that he never got used to his stage name.
Or perhaps it's just a sign of fatherly pride. Whatever the case,
there seemed to be a lot of love in that family. The downers,
of course, is the lack of input from Gene or Paul. Although they
spoke fondly of Eric on the ``X-Treme Closeup'' video and in the
``Kisstory'' book, they have said little else about him over the
years. I was actually at KISS' first show in NYC after Eric's
death. It was at The Ritz on the ``Revenge'' spring club tour,
and I was disappointed that Paul didn't mention anything about
it during the show. Maybe it was too painful, or perhaps he didn't
want to bring the crowd down, but a simple ``It's been a tough
year for this band - thank you for your love and support'' would
have been understood by all. There's all sorts of rumors about
the way KISS handled Eric's last few months, but they aren't addressed
on this tape. I agree with that decision, but a few new kind words
from Gene and Paul - and even Peter Criss and Eric Singer - would
have been a nice touch. It's fairly well known that both liked
Eric very much. Record company mumbo jumbo is probably what prevented
KISS' music from being used on the tape, which is also a downer.
When they're talking about Eric's great work on the ``Creatures
of The Night'' album, it would have been nice to have some of
the music as a backdrop. Unfortunatley, that's the way the music
business works. It's probably the same reason there are no clips
from KISS' actual videos. All of this would have made the tape
a little better, but don't blame the producers for that. That
probably all goes back to the ugly corporate monster known as
Polygram. Or is it Universal? Or Seagrams? Whatever the case,
I've begun to have no use for these people. They've never even
been any good at getting KISS on the radio. What matters the most
is that we get a very nice look at the life and music of Eric
Carr. There are home movies from around the house, and even some
from the hospital. In those clips, it really appears Eric is doing
well. That, unfortunatley, reminds us again how scary cancer is.
Depite a few shortcomings, ``Tale Of The Fox'' is a worthy companion
to the KISS video files. In it we see sides of Eric we never saw
before - sides we should have seen more of when he was still with
us. When he was still driving the machine known as KISS - the
best rock n' roll band to ever hit a concert stage. Eric, we hardly
knew ya. Which makes us miss you even more.

While I really enjoyed the tape, I have to admidt, I thought there
was way too much talking and not too much footage of Eric in action.
I did enjoy hearing from his family and friends, I would have
liked to see more concert footage.

Well like a lot of other reviewers on this list, I too recieved
my copy of Tale Of The Fox on Monday which was indeed a GREAT
way to start out the week. Anyway after watching this tape 3 or
4 times I really realized how much I missed that line-up of the
band. I unfortunately was never able to meet Eric but after watching
this tape I feel like I know him and where he came from very well.
This tape was put together VERY well and I loved every minute
of it. If you are a KISS fan than there is a big void in your
collection if this tape is not there.......GET IT, you will love
it.

This is truly a great video. It was very well done. There were
excellent clips of Eric's early days, insightful interviews with
family and friends and of course great music. Congratulations
to the Caravello family and to Bruce Kulick for an excellent job.

November 3, 1999 - I recieved my copy of this video in the mail
on 10/18/99. I found it to be well worth the wait, & I have watched
it several times. Every time I watch it I seem to learn or see
something new that I never expected to see about Eric! I have
always felt that he should have been given more of a chance to
write & perform a lot of his songs while he was still in KISS.
One thing that I feel that I must point out in this review, is
that the narrator's mistake about Eric's actual birthday. Most
of us Eric Carr fan's know that he was born on July 12th, 1950,
& passed away on November 24th, 1991. But despite this one error,
I feel this video is a must-see/must-have video for all kiss fans.

I just got my copy of Tale of the Fox on Monday what a nice begining
to start the month of November off right. His struggle to make
it big took hard work that payed off his warmness towards the
fans the band & girlfriend which he will be missed and not forgotten.
November - the month of the Fox.

Anything with Eric Carr's name on it, as far as I'm concerned,
is a must have. The video is extremely interesting and informative
with alot of behind the scenes stuff, yet I'm disappointed because
only at the very end for a very short time did it show any of
Eric's playing. I was hoping with all of the concert footage KISS
has, that there would be a ton of clips from various concerts,
but that wasn't the case. Other than that, it's a must buy for
any KISS fan not to mention a fan of Eric's.

The "Tale of the Fox" video is a great retrospective
of Eric's life and achievements. I couldn't think of a better
way to remember and honor his accomplishments! The only thing
missing is a line or two from Gene and Paul. An updated Ace Frehley
interview might have been nice, and maybe even Peter Criss, Vinnie
Vincent, or Mark St. John, as they all have somehitng to do with
KISS during Eric's tenure. However, the footage of Mark Slaughter,
Dana Strum, Blas Elias, Fred Coury, Bruce and Bob Kulick, Bill
Aucoin, Adam Mitchell, Carrie Stevens (!) and certainly Mr and
Mrs Caravello, as well as anyone else I may have forgotten, really
gave a great impression of what kind of person Paul Charles Caravello
really was. He is deeply missed by us all. Little Fox, if you're
out there, ROCK ON!

The video was exellent including the interviews with his parents
which gave his early life history. The interviews with Bruce gave
the KISS perspective of Eric. And the interviews with other musicians
allowed you to understand him from a perspective of other bands
opening for KISS or performing for KISS. It could have included
some more of the songs he preformed but it was still exellently
produced. Thank you for sharing his life with the rest of the
world that only knew him for a short time.

WOW!!! What a great boost to a Monday morning to find our videos
in the mail! I actually held out and waited until Nate came home
to watch it:) All I can say is WOW. You guys did an excellent
job. Everything was so nicely put together and you were right
your parents were great. It seems like anymore it is easy to put
someone on a pedestal and then you find out they are really not
what you thought - even though I never had the pleasure of meeting
your brother it sure is nice to know that he was the kind of guy
I imagined him to be. This video is a great tribute to a really
great guy!! Congratulations - Lisa :)

Thanks so very much for putting together this fabulous 80 minute
video. It was wonderful & I still can not believe it has finally
seen the light of day. There will be many, many Eric Carr fans
in the world who will be smiling from ear to ear once they each
see the video. Without going into to much detail, I did want to
make 2 comments! 1-I did recognize 1 still photo in the video.
It was a picture of Eric w/Bernie Ballash. She is a good friend
of mind & I actually have that picture on my wall. Bernie
